Trains Unlimited, Tours will now only run one trip Durango to Silverton and return using No. 315 as power on September 26-27, 2007. The 2nd trip to Silverton will not be run. We do have the approval from the railroad to run a Durango to Cascade Canyon and return on September 28 and if we receive enough interest from those railfans booked on September 26-27 we will run a third day with NO. 315. This will give everyone many more opportunities to photographic No. 315 in new remote locations.

PHOTOS BELOW TAKE US BACK OVER THE MANY YEARS
THAT DRGW NO. 315 WAS IN OPERATION IN COLORADO

After over six years of work, the Durango Railroad Historical Society is nearing completion of the restoration of the 1895 D&RGW locomotive 315, Class C-18. The 315 is being restored to its look and operating configuration of the 1940, with historical faithfulness and high standards of quality work. This locomotive has not operated in 58 years and has undergone major rebuilding of all systems. She is scheduled to be thoroughly tested on the Durango & Silverton before being put into excursion service. The test runs are scheduled to begin in August 2007. When the 315 goes into operation, it will be the first D&RGW 2-8-0 to operate on original narrow gauge trackage since 1955, offering an opportunity to see a historic locomotive in its natural habitat.
